India, Intolerance & The Salt

Wonder why India has this issue of (Fake) Intolerance Debated. I think I have a perspective, let me share.

With recent comments of actor Amir Khan on Intolerance, I see floods of protests, on road, online n it even entered in our daily common talks. From common people, to celebrities, from political people to non political organizations every one has an opinion and side to take. Some have got to an extent of suggesting to put charges of sedition on him. And our (infamous) media is out to discuss it in full scale.
hmmm...
Let us move back by few days or say few weeks. There was this news n video of two Congress Polititian (Mr Salman Khurshid & Mr Mani Shankar Aiyar) speaking ill of India, India's PM and India's foregin policy. One spoke publicly overseas (in Pakistan to be pricise) while other in an interview (to Pakistani Media). The outcry on road n online was again there. But very very limited.

Comparing both the incident I feel both should be condemned but latter deserved a serious condemnation and going a step forward, in the latter case, both the culprit politicians should be tried on charges of sedition (as per law).
BUT we are more interested in Amir Khan's Comment.

Having said that, lets apply some common sense and find out why do we have this fake Intolerance Debated and why it is gaining heavy grounds over minor (relative) incidences. And this turned out to be the same reason why ak is a bigger issue everywhere.

Well you see The Problem is The Salt. Yes you read it right, The Salt.
How??
Remeber that old dialog "मैंने उनका नमक खाया है, नमक का क़र्ज़ तो अदा करना पडेगा "
The dialog loosly translates to this "I can't be disloyal to those who feed me". "Feed me" refers those whom I serve (I is the speaker not me).
This is a good feeling (but in us i.e. in Indians) it is little too strong and a person remains so loyal to it's master that s/he doesn't hesitate to even act against the interest of Nation. And we don't realise when this loyality becomes appeasement and finally we accept partronage of our master and become slave. This is mental slavery, and it comes without shackles.

This problem we have since very long.
India was invaded by various foreign rulers, and we have also lost fights. It was okay till here, anyone can loose fight. The problem was our countrymen soon started being loyal to the new rulers. This is also fine to some level as power brings the salute. But the real problem was when our own people (elite of those times) join hands to the invaders and did attrocities on it's own countrymen.
Raja Maan Singh, Todarmal, Birbal etc are examples who had this misplaced since of loyality in those days. Remember those were the times when Mugals were Invaders.
This was again repeated and became the reason why a handfull of Britishers ruled us for 200 years and our own people did attrocities on it's countymen. This same british empire failed in China, because they could never raise any Chinese army against Chinese people. (Some may defer here quoting different reason for British not able to colonize china)

Now coming to present times, we find so many people raising voice against India for Intolerance. Referring/Reading various sources, one reason which comes out strongly is ban on various foreign NGOs n funds and government implementing accountability to those which are allowed to run. These NGOs were one big source of foreign money, to many so called elite n Intellectuals in our society. So obviously going by our long drawn character of loyality these folks remain loyal to their masters rather to Nation.
If you want to understand more you can extend this logic on yourself and understand. Many of us would be Sonia/Rahul supporter, kejri/mulayam/laloo supporter, Maya/Mamta/Jaya supporter or  Modi supporter, etc. Everyone comes out strongly to support it's leader but forgot the cause for which they started supporting him/her.
Now same we have applied on our Religion, when Krishna says do your duty against all odds. We forget to do our duty often but we leave no opportinity to fight who doesn't believe in Krishna but believes in Shiv (Vaishnav vs Shaiv issue).

Now this Amir Khan's stupid statement made inside Indian soil received more protest n rage than to those Congress Politicians who actually commited crime (by law) and brought bad name to India in a country which is hostile to our Nation. I think it should have been the other way. But Amir Khan's statement is seen as hit on Modi and will receive more condemnation than those two (mentally slaved) congress leaders who deserved it.

Well the crux of this blog is to self affirm Nation is First.
Remember Modi was loved (got power) because he said India First Person and promised development and we believed. So going by that rule we should be more critical to those who directly do bad for country (like those two politicians).

And as far as Amir Khan is concerned, the best to handle him is to give him a Big Ignore, avoid his promoted products and avoid his Movies. A celebrity will anyways die if he couldn't pull crowd.

  1. The missing link in this view is media hypocrisy. They come to you ask your openion and then modify according to gain more on TRP.

Perhaps in this issue, i also avoid movies of Mr. Khan,
But being a nationalist we sould also think that whatever is shown in TV news and all is only negativity against good deeds of any party or person. coz negativity earns more according to media.

our country has many thing to talk about where we are doing good globally. but no body cares a damn on future things.
