India, Intolerance & The Salt

Wonder why India has this issue of (Fake) Intolerance Debated. I think I have a perspective, let me share.

With recent comments of actor Amir Khan on Intolerance, I see floods of protests, on road, online n it even entered in our daily common talks. From common people, to celebrities, from political people to non political organizations every one has an opinion and side to take. Some have got to an extent of suggesting to put charges of sedition on him. And our (infamous) media is out to discuss it in full scale.
hmmm...
Let us move back by few days or say few weeks. There was this news n video of two Congress Polititian (Mr Salman Khurshid & Mr Mani Shankar Aiyar) speaking ill of India, India's PM and India's foregin policy. One spoke publicly overseas (in Pakistan to be pricise) while other in an interview (to Pakistani Media). The outcry on road n online was again there. But very very limited.

Comparing both the incident I feel both should be condemned but latter deserved a serious condemnation and going a step forward, in the latter case, both the culprit politicians should be tried on charges of sedition (as per law).
BUT we are more interested in Amir Khan's Comment.

Having said that, lets apply some common sense and find out why do we have this fake Intolerance Debated and why it is gaining heavy grounds over minor (relative) incidences. And this turned out to be the same reason why ak is a bigger issue everywhere.

Well you see The Problem is The Salt. Yes you read it right, The Salt.
How??
Remeber that old dialog "मैंने उनका नमक खाया है, नमक का क़र्ज़ तो अदा करना पडेगा "
The dialog loosly translates to this "I can't be disloyal to those who feed me". "Feed me" refers those whom I serve (I is the speaker not me).
This is a good feeling (but in us i.e. in Indians) it is little too strong and a person remains so loyal to it's master that s/he doesn't hesitate to even act against the interest of Nation. And we don't realise when this loyality becomes appeasement and finally we accept partronage of our master and become slave. This is mental slavery, and it comes without shackles.

This problem we have since very long.
India was invaded by various foreign rulers, and we have also lost fights. It was okay till here, anyone can loose fight. The problem was our countrymen soon started being loyal to the new rulers. This is also fine to some level as power brings the salute. But the real problem was when our own people (elite of those times) join hands to the invaders and did attrocities on it's own countrymen.
Raja Maan Singh, Todarmal, Birbal etc are examples who had this misplaced since of loyality in those days. Remember those were the times when Mugals were Invaders.
This was again repeated and became the reason why a handfull of Britishers ruled us for 200 years and our own people did attrocities on it's countymen. This same british empire failed in China, because they could never raise any Chinese army against Chinese people. (Some may defer here quoting different reason for British not able to colonize china)

Now coming to present times, we find so many people raising voice against India for Intolerance. Referring/Reading various sources, one reason which comes out strongly is ban on various foreign NGOs n funds and government implementing accountability to those which are allowed to run. These NGOs were one big source of foreign money, to many so called elite n Intellectuals in our society. So obviously going by our long drawn character of loyality these folks remain loyal to their masters rather to Nation.
If you want to understand more you can extend this logic on yourself and understand. Many of us would be Sonia/Rahul supporter, kejri/mulayam/laloo supporter, Maya/Mamta/Jaya supporter or  Modi supporter, etc. Everyone comes out strongly to support it's leader but forgot the cause for which they started supporting him/her.
Now same we have applied on our Religion, when Krishna says do your duty against all odds. We forget to do our duty often but we leave no opportinity to fight who doesn't believe in Krishna but believes in Shiv (Vaishnav vs Shaiv issue).

Now this Amir Khan's stupid statement made inside Indian soil received more protest n rage than to those Congress Politicians who actually commited crime (by law) and brought bad name to India in a country which is hostile to our Nation. I think it should have been the other way. But Amir Khan's statement is seen as hit on Modi and will receive more condemnation than those two (mentally slaved) congress leaders who deserved it.

Well the crux of this blog is to self affirm Nation is First.
Remember Modi was loved (got power) because he said India First Person and promised development and we believed. So going by that rule we should be more critical to those who directly do bad for country (like those two politicians).

And as far as Amir Khan is concerned, the best to handle him is to give him a Big Ignore, avoid his promoted products and avoid his Movies. A celebrity will anyways die if he couldn't pull crowd.

Shubh Deepawali 2015!! Earn The Right To Burst Crackers!!

As Deepawali approaches, the idea of not bursting crackers keeps popping up.
This Blog Handles that "Idea" My Way :-))

In My school days same idea was pushed by sisters (way to address nuns in school) and now it's all over the social Media. And, I feel, the reason is reasonably sound: It caused pollution, both air as well as noise.

Let extent this idea of refraining
So Stop crackers in Deepawali on pollution, Stop litting deepak n save oil, Stop playing holi n save water.
Now lets extend it a bit more...
Lets stop wearing cloths & start wearing tree leaves n bark, as textile industry is one big soure of pollution on land, water & air.
Did you feel I extended the logic to level of stupidity?? Then I think those pushing the idea of no crackers, should also extend their feeling a bit more & stop thinking stupid in terms of celebrating Deepawali or any festival for that matter.

Now, ignoring these Negative n Illogical Idea Mongers; lets see what's The Positive Approach.
I'm of the thought that One shouldn't renounce anything in the name saving/protecting something (unless that's against law). Rather one should earn his/her moral right to do something.
That is instead of refraining we must Earn The Right To Burst Crackers On Deepawali.

**Earning the Right To Burst Crackers**
Below is how I handle my conscience to keep promoting myself celebrating Deepawali in all gala way I had been doing.

How shall we earn our right to Burst crackers on Deepawali?
Well, there is no exact way to earn it, it's all on individuals to craft a way for oneself.
However, I will share the way I designed it for myself.
This is what I did last year-
- I never burst crackers on any other occassion, like new Year, any cricket win or anything else
- I've bicycled n walked many kilometers n saved 10s of litres of petrol. I've even travelled multiple hundreds of kilometers on Bus (within city). Point to note here, in these cases of walking, bycycling n bus riding, going by 2 wheeler / 4 wheeler was lot easier for me.
- I've also never used my car unless utmost needed.
- I even held broom, n self clear the dirt I create by bursting crackers last year.
- I planted a Banyan tree (years ago). The tree is in full glory now, giving Huge shade n home to various birds
After this I feel I have liberty of a reasonable celebration on Deepawali (with crackers).

Why Should we Earn Right to Burst Crackers On Deepawali?
Deepawali is a Hindu Festival. Hinduism is practicing n praying of God, which is not just our deities but also our Mother Nature. So Air, Water, Sun, Tree, etc all are Gods and we must preserve them all.
So, Getting into habit of walking, cycling n using public transport is doing more good to oneself, our nature, our economy n our country. So one day of relaxation on Deepawali times is allowed (I feel) and your right is earned.

How to Measure?
There is no maths I used here, but loosly I targeted to save fuel double of worth of crackers I burst.
And by doing this since last year I realized I'm have save more than 4 times of worth of crackers I plan to burst this year. Cheers to Me!!

Why Will I burst Crackers?
For Me Deepawali had always been lots of light, lots of sweets & loads of crackers. Now I want to give the same to my kid. However adding it with the sense of responsibility that her father is paying back to mother nature in means possible.

What if You haven't Earned Your Right, yet?
Go ahead and have fun this year. And start practicing from today, and believe you have to give back the Mother Nature for at least what you have taken from Her.

What to think of those who ask for Total refrainment of Bursting Crackers?
I best is to give them a ignore, Big Time. I feel these are delirious folks n I keep their ideas at bay.

Can I do anything after I earn my right?
No! Be responsible! We are Social Animal. So focus more on Social and less On Animal.
- Avoid green Bombs or high noise making bombs
- Try to accomodate if someone protest, and understand his/her point
- Be reasonable, in the extent of fun you have
- Don't make noise after 9:30PM

Shubh Deepwali 2015 to ALL!!
शुभ दीपावली २०१५ आपको, आपके परिवार को !!
